EnterraProtein™ Nutritional Information
Why feed with EnterraProtein™?
After running multiple trials, EnterraProtein™ has shown high digestibility of protein and lipids, it’s rich in prebiotics and it has essential amino acids and other key nutrients.
EnterraProtein™ is a renewable insect ingredient. They Black Soldier Fly larvae are raised using a vertical farming technique making them one of the most sustainable sources of protein in the world.
- Significantly less land and water use in production
- Black Soldier Flies are fed a 100% plant-based diet
- Black Soldier Flies are fed pre-consumer food waste, diverting these otherwise wasted resources from landfills
Many wild animals count insects as part of their everyday diet. Sometimes, even larger predators like wolves and wild cats turn to an insect diet when sources of larger prey become scarce.
EnterraProtein™ not only provides a natural, sustainable source of protein and energy, it also has functional benefits related to the health aspects of animals. A low level of chitin, the insoluble fibre that makes up the exoskeleton of the Black Soldier Fly grub, has shown prebiotic and antimicrobial characteristics in scientific research. In addition, lauric acid, a medium-chain fatty acid that makes up 40% of the oil in EnterraProtein™, has shown antimicrobial benefits in testing.
To ensure EnterraProtein™ adheres to the high quality and safety standards listed in the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and American Association of Feed Control Officials (AAFOC) regimes, production facilities are regularly checked for heavy metals, mycotoxins, PCBs, dioxins, E. coli, Salmonella and total microbial load.
